Pinwheel Vanes For Montague

HST Pinwheel Quilt Pattern | Whims And Fancies

One of my sweet kitties is going to spend all of next week at the UC Davis hospital for treatment.  After he comes home, he is to spend nights alone in a separate room for another two weeks.  He loves to sleep with us on the bed, so he will be a bit lonely.

He is also very fond of quilts.  This is the quilt I am making for him to sleep on during his isolation.  Every other project is on hold at the moment and my sole goal is to finish this quilt before he comes back home.

HST Pinwheel Quilt Pattern | Whims And Fancies

I love wind turbines and the vanes of wind turbines gave me the idea for this quilt.  Pinwheel Vanes is my version of a Pinwheel quilt pattern.

Each block is made of four units joined with sashing in between.  With the sashing I didn’t have to align the seams which made for a very quick finish.  I have had these fabrics in my stash for ages.  Actually, I believe these are some of the first fabrics I ever purchased.

I am going to finish writing the Wandering Camera post for next week and then dive straight into finishing this quilt for Montague while he is away.  I want to have it ready for him to sleep on the first night he is back home.

Poor kitty, I’m sure he’ll feel better when he’s home and snugged up. The blocks look great, I really like the colours of your fabric choices. :)

My hopes and prayers for the best are going out to Monty! He will love this quilt Soma. Having something so cuddly in his room will make his isolation more comfortable.

What a good kitty mama you are. Hope your kitty will be all better soon. It’s so tough to have sick pets.

I hope the week goes quickly for both you and for Montague! It’s hard to leave our pets, but making this lovely quilt will keep your mind busy. He’ll probably be sleeping lots during his recovery, so what a perfect welcome home gift for him. You’re so good to your kittie.

Looking forward to wandering camera next week!

The blocks are really pretty. The colours and patterns go really well together.

Maybe you could sleep with it before you give it to him, so it has the scent he is used to at bed time.

Beautiful blocks, it will be a nice little quilt. Poor kittie, hope it all goes well and wishing him a speedy recovery!

  • Kathleen February 25, 2016 at 16:18

Oh Montague will love this new quilt!! I love the block and the fabric choice. It looks like it should work up quickly. I wish him a fast recuperation so he can rejoin his loving family.

  • Maria February 25, 2016 at 14:25

All the best to Montague for his operation and recuperation. Having such a lovely quilt will certainly help him on the road to recovery. ( hugs to you too; it’s never easy when our kitty babies aren’t well)

This is a really cute block and I love the fabric you used. I wish you and kitty the best as he goes during the treatment. I’m sure he will enjoy cuddling in the quilt as he recovers.

  • krislovesfabric February 25, 2016 at 10:41

Best wishes for a quick and easy recovery, so sad that he has to be alone, this looks like a comfy place to lie down. It is fun and satisfying to be able to use those long stashed gems, isn’t it?!

  • Susan February 25, 2016 at 10:36

My cat would not be happy with being away from home nor being isolated when he got back. He would be crying all night long. Hopefully this new quilt for Montague will be very comforting for him.

  • Mary February 25, 2016 at 09:24

That is one very lucky kitty to have such a beautiful quilt. I wish all of you well while he undergoes his treatment.
