Wandering Camera – Magdalen College, Oxford

Welcome to this month’s Wandering Camera.  This month I would love to take you around Magdalen College, one of the three colleges we visited in Oxford.  After spending the morning at Christ Church, we made our way toward this beautiful college.   If buildings have personalities, which I think they do, Magdalen College exudes the air of elegance and serenity, with its old stone structures adorned by flowering college gardens.

Travel Sketchbook – Watercolour of the boats from where we were sitting for lunch

These are some of my favourite photos that I took there –

Past the courtyards and the cloisters, past The Kitchen Bar by the boathouse where we had lunch while watching people punt, and past the college gardens, there is Addison’s Walk by the river Cherwell.  We continued our walk there under the canopy of trees, listening to the sound of water and wind.  It was the most peaceful day, far from the madding crowd elsewhere in this otherwise bustling city.

Thank you for all the wonderful comments, and for sharing your photos with me.  I love visiting you and reading a bit about your world, where you have been visiting and what you have been creating.

Absolutely gorgeous photos. We are going to Oxford, just part of a day, but still, at least we’ll get there. I love taking photos of things through windows, and of windows, period! And doorways… Europe does not disappoint in that regard, nor will England I’m sure!

It looks like it would be so peaceful there surrounded by such gorgeous historical architecture. I was thinking if these buildings could talk, but, then again, they do exude and evoke so much. What a lovely pictorial in both mediums, Soma.

What a beautiful and peaceful place to walk around; to sit and just drink in all the wonderful architecture. I too, believe buildings have their own personalities. It seems to me every nook and cranny reveals this, if you take the time to listen and look. Loved seeing the beautiful hydrangeas on this chilly wintry day. Soma, you are indeed an artiste with both camera and brush. Glorious photos!

Wonderful photos of this Oxford college! The British colleges have such an old tradition, the atmosphere must be inspiring to the students. The photo of those white hydrangeas and some climber is fantastic. Thank you for hosting, wishing a good weekend and good start to July.
