October Colours – Autumn Forest Walk

October is here.  Alongside mostly cooler days, I have spotted colour changes in the leaves here and there.  I will soon be out and about a LOT more with my camera and paintbrushes, capturing the quintessential autumnal colours and enjoying not only my favourite seasons, also my most favourite festival – Halloween!  After being homebound for close to six months during spring and summer due to severe allergies, I look forward to this every year with much excitement.

I have a few sewing projects to share with you that are made from my patterns –

The camera was made by Becky as a gift.

Kat made a bag for a secret Santa present using the Artist Paintbox pattern.

Purchase Halloween Witch Hat

The first witch hat was made by Mary.  She used dot-to-dot quilting for it, which I found to be so unique.

The second one was made by PumpkinHollowQuilts.  She makes some of the best Halloween cross stitches and decorations.

They are all made from some of my favourite patterns, and I am delighted to be able to share them with you.

I made a Halloween-themed block from my Shattered Star pattern.  I earnestly meant to quilt this block by now.  Much to my chagrin, that is unfortunately not going to happen.  I am going to turn this into a pillow.

Linking up with One Monthly Goal hosted by Patty!  Great way to get those small or big finishes achieved.

Most of my things are still in boxes while we wait for a few home improvements.  I did pack some of my drawing/painting supplies in a bag since I can pretty much sit anywhere and start to draw/paint.  The only thing that could distract me is the call of the outside.

Purchase Autumn Forest Walk

The woods around here will very soon start to display the most amazing autumnal colours.   Mother Nature uses her Midas touch to transform the area into the most vibrant shades of gold and yellow.  Even painting that transports me to a different world.

Purchase Autumn Forest Walk

In the spirit of sharing some of my autumn dreams with you, Autumn Forest Walk is now available in my shop.  If you are a tree-hugger (in the most literal sense) like me, you would probably enjoy having it around all year long as I do.

See you on Oct. 31st for Wandering Camera!

Happy October!
-Soma

Soma, Autumn Forest Walk is beautiful. And I love the Shattered Star block! I’m going to have to get a copy of the pattern. I feel you about the allergies. I’ve been through desensitization shots twice, because I developed new allergies. Sadly, while the shots worked well for most things I was allergic to, neither round dented my allergy to ragweed. I recently had steroid injections to get me through the worst of it. I will say this though, allergies are what pushed me to start quilting. I needed an inside hobby.

Love the colours in the forest walk painting. I remember Secret Santa from my years working in education, both at the schools and later in the district office. Such fun. – Margy

Lovely eye candy here Soma! I love your turn of phrase about Mother Nature using her Midas touch to transform the leaves. I often think it’s like she’s icing the trees with orange and yellow and red icings with the way they turn here in southwest Ontario.

I love the colors of autumn! Your trees turned out so well with such pretty shading in the leaves. I can almost imagine myself lying underneath and looking upwards.

I thought about you when I hung my witch’s hat this year. I do love that pattern. Your block will make a spectacular pillow.

Enjoy your outings. I’ll be looking forward to your pictures.

Growing up in Oz, autumn was my favourite season, for several reasons. 1. My birthday is in autumn, 2. Finally the days start cooling down, and the humidity of summer drops, and 3. Where I grew up in Toowoomba, we had a lot of liquid amber trees along the main streets, so the season was full of colour.
Love your image of the trees turning colour, and glad you can finally get outdoors safely.

Beautiful painting. We don’t have such changes here in the desert. Waiting for cooler weather as it still hot and humid. I don’t have allergies but currently have a cold thanks to my husband. :/ It’s lovely to see how different the projects turn out according to fabric and color and the maker’s take on the pattern.
