Hello!  Until I started writing, I didn't realize how much I got done in these past few weeks.  We were out and about, from the Columbia River Gorge  to the coasts of Northern California.  Walks around the neighborhood prompted some impromptu paintings.  I finished making a few toys and blankets for the kitties, and also knitted up a couple of things for myself.  Working toward another flower block for my wildflower block printing series and another watercolor book cover joined the list too.  Last but not least, I painted this Girl and Her Cat book cover last Monday.  It is going to be quite the show and tell today!

I find March to be a very fickle month.  In this part of the world, poor thing just can’t make up its mind about the weather.  There were consecutive days of blustery wind and pouring rain.  Then the sun broke through the clouds, touching everything with the warm glow that can only be seen after a clearing storm.  In the meantime, the wildflowers have been taking full advantage of the rain and blossoming everywhere, free and playful in the wind, beckoning me outdoors.

I have been steadily working on custom patterns this week, so I didn’t have any time to sew.  I have also been heading out after work a lot more with my camera.  That in turn has resulted in my taking up running again.  I used to swim regularly, I miss that since we moved here.  Running is a good substitute.  In the meantime, my friend Kris got the package that I sent her early this month.

Various reasons called for a long holiday this year and I obliged.  For me that typically means going into hibernation, at home or sometimes elsewhere on a trip.  These getaway trips would be completely impossible for us without our fabulous pet sitter, Nanci.  She not only takes care of the basic necessities of our kitties, she also spends time with them and reads aloud to them.  She even warmed her way into the hearts of my shy kitties enough that they are completely relaxed around her.
