So much of my time is spent on-screen with researching and working that some days it leaves my eyes tired and my head jammed shut.  As much as I love getting lost in the digital world, I do need breaks to avoid burnout.  For that, I have relied on drawing and writing all my life.   These stolen creative moments help me reconnect with my love of slow living.  It doesn't matter where I am, I always keep a small sketching kit in my bag.  When I started making my own books, I tailor made them with my favorite paper.  Today I would like to share some of my book binding process, my on-the-go sketching kit, and the new books I recently made featuring my watercolor paintings as the cover art.  Read on for a nice coupon code to use in my shop.

As soon as I come back from the mountains, I longingly wait for the days when I get to make the drive back there again.  During one of those waiting periods, I designed and made this book.   I also play music.   Thoughts of the mountains and music coupled together to make something new.   This is the story of this book - "High Mountains and Flowing Water."

There are familiar places in the forests and mountains of California that I love revisiting for a reset and recover.   I fell in love with the High Sierra mountains and Tioga Pass during my first visit many years ago.  It's a place that slows me down and pushes me to work harder at the same time.  Recently, I made a marker painting from a lakeside drawing I did there.  Along with the painting, I also want to talk about swatch making, different papers for marker painting, and other accompanying tools that I use with markers on this Outside the Lines art supply review.

I love to visit the Redwood National & State Parks during my winter break.  Even though I have visited these parks multiple times, the feeling I get while walking under these immensely tall trees never ceases to amaze me.   My husband and I walk the trails, take photos, and quietly feel the forest.  Today I want to share some of my photos, sketches, and the recent notebooks I made from one of the drawings I did there.
